Hub bearing units are integrated suspension subsystems. They perform the same function as they do in standard cars but under the more rigorous conditions of the racetrack. For instance, they must have higher bearing load capacity for a given dimension. We offer a range of specific designs for the higher demands of racing applications, including the ability to handle high cornering. Higher load capacity and tilting stiffness are required, as brake and tyre performance should be maintained even at high lateral loads. Integrating sensors into hub bearing units is an established example of mechatronics in cars.
